Dairy Buffers

DAIRY BUFFERS
With today's rations designed to meet higher production levels, grain & wet forages are fed at increased levels. Under these conditions, cows may not produce sufficient quantities of saliva, which naturally buffers the rumen. Adding buffers such as sodium bicarbonate to the diet helps to maintain a healthy rumen environment. Proper buffering of the total digestive tract will increase dry matter intake and raise milk production. Research has proven that combination buffers are superior to single ingredient buffers.

Renaissance markets combination buffers, each one designed for a specific need:

ALKA C
A buffering agent formulated to aid digestion and combat acidosis in rations based on corn silage, gras silage or small grain silage. Feeding rate depends on fiber and moisture content of the ration.

ALKA YEAST
A buffering agent formulated to aid digestion, combat acidosis, and enhance rumen function. ALKA YEAST contains the full recommended feeding rate of Amax Yeast. Research has confirmed that Amax Yeast helps increase dry matter intake and improve body condition score, milk production, energy utilization and production efficiency.

MgNaKOOL & MgNaKOOL PLUS
These products are specifically designed to reduce heat stress in lactating cattle. They consist of a blend of buffering agents to increase DCAD and help maintain rumen health when feeding lower forage content rations; live yeast to increase rumen microbial populations and improve fiber digestion; and organic zinc to help reduce somatic cell counts and improve foot health.
